Be Not Ashamed
Romans 1:15-19

I am going to be doing a series over the next several weeks talking about being a good Christian. On Easter Sunday, which is 3 weeks from today, I will take a break from this series and do a special sermon on Easter.

As humans we are ashamed of many different things and sometimes we are ashamed of different people in our lives. There is something that we can know for sure that we should never be ashamed of. We should be like Paul and never be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. Why? Because like it says here in Romans, the gospel of Christ is the power of God that leads to salvation to everyone that believes. God's free gift of salvation is not for certain people, but for anyone and everyone that believes and accepts Jesus in their heart and life.

Romans 1:15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also. Paul wanted to go and was ready to go to Rome and preach to the people there.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. Paul was not ashamed of the gospel, because he knew the power of the gospel and what it could do for people. We should not be ashamed of the gospel, because of the power it has and when we are ashamed of the gospel, that means we are ashamed of Christ. (see Luke 9:26) This verse explains what will happen if we are ashamed of Christ.

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. (see Habakkuk 2:4)

Romans 1:18 For the wrath of God is revealed (shown) from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;

Romans 1:19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.

The things that God knows - we can know, because God shows those things to us. We need to have faith in God that He will take care of us no matter what the situation.

We need to stop worrying what the world thinks about us and start listening to God's word and what He wants from us.
