Do Not Worry
Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought
for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet
for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat,
and the body than raiment?
Matthew 6:26 Behold the fowls (birds) of the air:
for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet
your heavenly Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
Matthew 6:27 Which of you by taking thought can add
one cubit unto his stature?
Remember cubit means about 18 inches.
Matthew 6:28 And why take ye thought for raiment
(clothes)? Consider the lilies (kind of flower) of the field, how
they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin:
Matthew 6: 29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon
in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
Matthew 6:30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass
of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven,
shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Matthew 6: 31 Therefore take no thought, saying,
What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall
we be clothed?
Matthew 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles
[non Jew] seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need
of all these things.
Matthew 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God,
and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto
Matthew 6:34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow
(tomorrow): for the morrow (tomorrow) shall take thought for the
things of itself. Sufficient (enough) unto the day is the evil thereof.
We should not worry about anything, such as: clothes,
food, home, transportation, or anything else you can think of. We
need to depend fully on God and trust him to supply all our needs.
When we worry about anything, that means we are not
trusting God, and that is sin. We all need to do what it says in
Matt. 6:33 and memorize that verse. We need to be seeking God first
in everything we do everyday, not just on Sunday, Wednesday, or
Thursday. When we truly seek God and the things that are his, then
he will bless us and help us with what we need. Now understand the
difference between need and want. Need is anything that is necessary
for our daily lives. Want is something that we don't need, but would
like to have. Some examples: Needs -- place to live, clothes to
wear (not necessarily expensive clothes), some kind of transportation,
food to eat. Wants -- the most expensive clothes, the most expensive
car, the most expensive house.
These are things of the world, and the things of
the world are not important to live with God forever.
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give
unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
