Seven Gifts of Christ to Believers

  1. Rest
    Matt. 11:28 28
Come unto me, all ye that labour(work) and are heavy laden(burden), and I will give you rest.

Jesus wants us to go to Him with all of our burdens and leave them with Him. He wants to give to us the kind of rest that no one else can give.

  2. Keys of the Kingdom
    Matt. 16:19 19
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Remember this is right after Peter confessed that Jesus is the Son of God.

  3. Power over evil spirits
    Luke 10:19 19
Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Jesus has all the power over everything and that includes Satan. With Jesus helping us, we can defeat Satan. If we try to defeat Satan alone, we will always fail. You want to be able to defeat Satan? (See Philippians 4:13)

  4. Living water
    John 4:14 14
But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

  5. Bread of Heaven
    John 6:51 51
I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. Jesus wants us to fully depend on Him for everything in our lives. When we eat earthly food we will get hungry again. When we eat from Jesus (bible reading and prayer), we will be satisfied, because Jesus gives us everything we need to serve Him. We may get hungry, but it is not the same kind of hunger. With Jesus we are wanting to learn more and more about Him, to be able to serve Him better each and every day.

  6. Eternal Life
    John 10:28 28
And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

We talked about this verse last week. Remember that there is nothing more powerful than Jesus. Once we accept Jesus, Satan has lost control of our soul, and can not take us back away from Jesus. Jesus is more powerful than Satan.

  7. Legacy(giving or leaving) of Peace
    John 14:27 Rev. 2:26,28; Rev. 21:6 John 14:27
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. Jesus wants to give us peace, but it is not the same kind of peace that the world gives.

When the world give peace it is only for short time. With the peace that Jesus gives that stays forever. We do not have to be worried that something bad will happen in the future when we trust in Jesus and accept the peace that He gives.

Rev. 2:26 And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: Rev. 2:28 And I will give him the morning star. The morning star here is talking about the brightness after the dark of night. Jesus is the Light of the world. That is what Jesus is talking about in verses 26 and 28. If we will only do what Jesus wants us to do for Him and continue to the end, we will have the victory with Him over all the earth and shine bright over the earth. (See Matt. 5:16)

Rev. 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst(thirst) of the fountain of the water of life freely. Jesus can give us the Living water, because He is that Living water. We can go to Him and never have to worry about needing anything again. (See Philippians 4:19)
